Description: Captain MacAyver is a roughly handsome Highland man with long heavily muscled legs. It isn’t that the rest of him is wimpy, it’s just that his legs seem like they belong on a taller and heavier man. His skin is a couple shades darker than average, thanks to his Castillian grandfather, his hair is dark brown and pulled into a loose tail down past his shoulders. His eyes are dark and miss little. When the weather turns warm enough he goes shirtless, wearing an overstitched cotton vest (lined with silk) tied over his bare chest with the Highland kilt and knee socks. Esteban never appears completely shirtless in public, hiding the lash scars on his back and chest.

When battle seems likely, he wears his claymore and a leather sash studded with one coin for every ship he’s ever taken. Even considering that he started on this sash before he became a captain, it’s none too shabby. The coins are riveted in overlapping rows, and are halfway down his chest. Another distinctive feature of his battle dress is the sturdy leg guards that protect him from the knees down. The other reason for his nickname is the fact that his legs are exceptionally strong and possess almost limitless endurance. Esteban works out by pushing full water barrels with his legs, and the results are obvious. He kicks down doors with ease, makes tremendous leaps, and surprises his opponents with snap kicks that leave them sprawling and broken. Combined with his sweeping MacDonald claymore strikes, Esteban is an opponent no one wants to get close to.

Personal History: Esteban is from a clan of seafaring merchants, but has somehow ended up a privateer instead. He doesn't tell his story at the drop of a hat, but it involves being pressed by pirates, a Corsair galley, a Vodacce Fate Witch, and a lot of walking. For the last four-five years, he's been the captain of the Sea Dog brigantine Witch's Folly.

Character Traits: Esteban is a Highlander, and as such he has a tendency toward acting dour and stern. Of course, that might be because he's the captain and it's his job to be dour and stern. In truth, Esteban is a synthesis of Highland practicality and Castillian passion. His grandfather, Domingo de Rios, oversaw much of his early education and did his best to teach the boy to think before acting - and then act quickly and directly.

Esteban doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve - but he does have one. His powers of concentration are strong, and what he sets out to do he does, eventually. The only thing that can definitely break his focus is his little sister Kegan, whom he can be protective of past the point of reason. Esteban may seem like a stern "play it safe" master and commander, but in truth he is an adventurer at heart who loves the rush that comes from outclassing his enemies and doing the seemingly-impossible. The voice in his head that belongs to his grandfather, though, warns him to trust in skill rather than luck - even the luck of the iconic Jeremiah Berek will run out some day.

Medical History: Aside from the lash scars on his torso and the unusual strength of his legs, Esteban is a normal healthy active man.
