Casavir Degrayne

Name: Casavir Degrayne
Primary: Rogue Specialization: Survival
Secondary: Melee Weapons (Soldier)
Homeworld: Mardalena
Race: Human
Age: 26
Description: Though not a member of any of the pirate clans, Casavir sure looks like one. He is a handsome human male with lightly tanned skin, striking violet eyes, and long, dark purple hair, which he usually keeps tied back in a ponytail. His charming smile is framed by a neatly trimmed mustache and goatee, which are of the same color as his hair.
His flamboyant wardrobe consists most commonly of a pair of black trousers, a purple sash, black swashbuckler boots, a loose-fitting white shirt, and a dark indigo vest. Hanging from a black leather belt underneath the sash is his arcblade, with a gilded, elaborately decorated hilt and guard. When activated, a purple electric arc dances between the two electrodes at the top of the long, straight blade. If the tip of the sword is pressed against an object, or a person, they are jolted by an electrical shock, the intensity of which can be adjusted from causing a mild sting to emitting enough voltage to kill most humanoids.
Personal History: Casavir was born on the southern continent of Mardalena, and was the only child of Calfuray Degrayne, the owner of one of Mardalena's foremost wineries, and his wife Porfiria. His family's wealth afforded Cas a very comfortable childhood; he was so comfortable, in fact, that he'd grown bored with his life by the time he'd reached his teenage years. He wanted some danger in his life, some excitement and adventure, and so, at the age of sixteen, he ran away from his home and boarded the first outbound transport he could find. He brought with him only enough sols to last him a couple weeks, and his father's arcblade, a priceless family heirloom.
Cas spent several months moving around the Sarabande, scrounging a living by working odd jobs, by sweet-talking his way into a hot meal and a warm bed, and by stealing. Eventually, he fell in with one of the Sarabande's many pirate bands, who took him under their wing and made him one of their own. Casavir spent six years with the pirates, using his silver tongue and his skill with an arcblade to make a name for himself among the group, which was no small feat. For the first time in years, Cas was happy; he'd left Mardalena in search of excitement, and life as a pirate offered the young man as much as he could handle.
When the Elsberg Empire conquered Mardalena four years ago, it was like a slap in the face for Casavir. He spent the next several days alone, staring at a mirror and reflecting upon himself. He wondered how he could have let his life fallen so deeply into meaninglessness.
A week after Mardalena's subjugation, Cas abandoned his life as a pirate and fled once more into the unknown. With his shares of the loot he'd helped procure during his years as a pirate, Cas had just enough sols to purchase an old Katamari-class salvage barge, which he named Amarantha after a famous Mardalene princess. She wasn't much to look at, but Casavir quickly established a bond with the beat-up ship, and he still captains her to this day.
Character Traits: Casavir can seem like an eccentric man at first glance, what with his choice in clothing and his obsession with most things purple, but he's really rather sane and down to earth. Well, he does on occasion speak to Amarantha as if she was a real person, but other than that he's fine.
He considers himself to be a classical gentleman, and is exceedingly polite, particularly to attractive women. Cas also has an old-fashioned sense of chivalry, and prefers to handle conflicts face-to-face, and one-on-one, whenever possible.
Having grown up near a vineyard, Casavir has a great love for wine, and a very sophisticated palate. He is especially fond of the Montaignes' Pinot Pirazzo, and will go out of his way to acquire a bottle of it whenever he sees one, considering the wine's rarity and its status as something of a collector's item in the Sarabande.
While he does generally come off as a kind-hearted, cordial man who wouldn't hurt a fly, Casavir does have a bit of a dark side. When provoked, his anger can flare up like a supernova, and if you're unfortunate enough to get on his bad side, you had better watch out. Cas may not be a very good shot with a gun, but he's never met anyone better with a sword than he is--the trail of fallen opponents he's left behind him can attest to that.
