Description:
Gabriel Q. Buzbee, or just Buzbee to his friends, is a tall athletic surfer with plenty of lean muscle and agility. His hair is dirty blonde and usually hangs unkempt about his shoulders, his skin is almost always tanned and he typically walks around shirtless whenever he can since that’s how he looks on the beach which is his favorite place to be. If he has to put on a shirt he usually just compromises with a loose vest to go with his khaki shorts and sandals. He has no piercings or body art, but is right wrist is never seen without a woven bracelet his mother made for him when he was little.
Character Traits:
Buzbee is a very easy going young man, always friendly and sociable, always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need. However he is also a bit of a slacker, which has gotten him in trouble at school. It’s not that he’s stupid or even lazy he would just rather spend his life surfing or working on his art than wasting away in a classroom. This could very likely be a by-product of his upbringing.
Personal History:
Buzbee was born on an island off of the California coast to a wealthy businessman and his wife. Thomas and Samantha Buzbee had collectively made a great deal of money in their first ten years of marriage and when Thomas turned thirty-two, they decided to sell everything and build a little beach cottage on a mostly uninhabited island off the California coast called Santa Rosa. The two lived there in comfort and happiness for a couple of years and Samantha got pregnant. Thomas flew in the family doctor to deliver the child, a boy, which they named Gabriel Quentin Buzbee.
The doctor suggested the two move back to California to raise the child, but they were happy with their life on the island and decided to stay. So little Gabriel grew up surfing and living off the land with his parents, learning a multitude of varying skills from both parents; including everything from surfing and hunting, to sewing and cooking. He was afforded a decent education in the typical schoolbook sense, as his mother was a teacher at one time and knew how important those topics were.
So this is how Buzbee spent his childhood, playing on the beach, drawing and painting, and helping his father build additions to their little shack. But unfortunately this couldn’t last, and once his mother realized that he had learned everything to the point she could teach him, she and his father decided he needed a formal education. Buzbee protested of course, since he loved the life they had there, and he was not exactly happy when he found out that only he was being sent back to California and they got to remain on the island without him. But the decision was made, and at ten years old Gabriel Q. Buzbee flew to Sunnyvale California to stay with his uncle who owned a house there.
After a year or two Buzbee got over his initial anger at having to leave the island and got settled into life in a city. He still preferred to surf or paint whenever he was able and thus didn’t do terribly well in school. Though fortunately for him while his teachers didn’t like his slacker mentality, they recognized his intelligence and ability on the projects and tests that he bothered to turn in and gave him a bit more leeway than your average slacker.
Medical History:
Buzbee is an athletic youth, and thus has had his fair share of falls and mishaps, but his childhood on the island with his parents taught him how to handle most minor injuries himself. Thus he has spent little time in a doctor’s office, despite having had various cuts, scrapes, and sprains. He may end up with scars doing things this way, but he doesn’t have to deal with someone telling him to play it safe.
Character by Grey, Inspiration by someone else named Buzbee.
