Archibald Coventry
Character Name: Archibald Coventry
Nationality: Avalon
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 162 lbs.
Arcana: Rash
Description: Archibald is a physically unassuming young Avalon of gentle birth. His wide-eyed nature and infectious, boyish smile do little to hide his youth and unworldliness. He has long, dark brown hair, brown eyes, and typically dresses in stylish, but functional, clothing as befits his stature. A self-styled student of everything, Archibald carries many books with him; most deal with medicine and human anatomy, but he also has tomes on various other subjects, including history, comparative law, astronomy, and ancient Numan philosophy. He is almost never seen without his meerschaum pipe, which he tends to hold on to or stick between his teeth even when he isn't smoking.
Birthplace: Coventry Manor, Lovaine County, Avalon
Mother: Lady Eleanor Coventry née de Liery (45)
Father: Lord Horatio Coventry, 9th Earl of Coventry (48)
Siblings: Lady Wilhelmina Kensington (24), Sebastian Coventry (18), Victoria Coventry (15)
Personal History: Archibald Coventry was born in his family's ancestral home, Coventry Manor, a lavish estate located north of Luthon. He was the second child of nobleman Horatio Coventry and his wife, Eleanor de Liery, a highborn lady from a family originally of Montaigne stock. Life for the Coventrys was comfortable indeed, and Archibald grew up without a care in the world. He was always well fed, always content, and he and his siblings were given the finest education possible, yet another benefit of their wealth and status.
Archibald developed an interest in scholarship at an early age. He became primarily interested in becoming a doctor following an incident where he sewed back together his younger sister's favorite doll after its arm was accidentally ripped off. His interest in schooling never waned, and he was by far the most attentive student of the Coventry children. When he was old enough, Archibald attended Bedegrane University, where he continued his broad range of studies, with a primary focus in medicine.
He was less than a year away from completing his studies when he received word that one of the Sea Dogs' vessels was in need of a surgeon. Archibald, who always was somewhat of a dreamer and saw the world through the rose-tinted glasses of a romantic, longed for the chance to go to sea and experience adventures like the famous pirates Aaron Guy, Jeremiah Berek, Allende, and Philip Gosse. When he learned that the ship in question was the Witch's Folly, a notorious and supposedly cursed ship, his interest in joining the crew became that much greater.
Much to his family's dismay, Archibald left Bedegrane University and signed on to sail with the Witch's Folly, eager to make a name for himself on the high seas.
Character Traits: Archibald is a good person, and he means well, but he has a tendency to leap before he looks. He's easily excited and prefers to look on the bright side of things, no matter how bleak the situation may be. He is obviously an extremely intelligent young man, but his rash decision-making has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. He is also very friendly, and generally rather trusting, which hasn't come back to haunt him, yet.
Though he's studying to become a doctor, Archibald is extremely squeamish about blood, and he always has been. He hasn't yet operated on a real person, and all he truly knows about surgery comes from lectures at Bedegrane University and his books on human anatomy.
Medical History: Archibald has never been seriously ill, has never been in any fights, and has never broken a bone, nor does he have any scars. He's managed to make it this far without suffering any serious injuries, and he aims to keep it that way.
Character by Randy, torment by the Raven.
